Tuesday was a very eventful day across the Tennessee Valley as strong thunderstorms rolled through during the middle to late part of the afternoon. Damaging wind gusts and small hail reports were common here is a quick list of just some of the local reports:

Hail
Pikeville, TN (Quarter Size)
Summerville, GA (Penny to Dime Size)
Trenton, GA (Penny Size)
Soddy-Daisy, TN (Nickel Size)
Chattanooga (Quarter Size)
Rome, GA
Ellijay, GA

Wind Damage

Rainfall at Lovell Field reached 1.98 inches. That helped boost our July total to 3.41 inches which is now just 0.03 below normal. We were also able to slice away at the yearly deficit which is now at 6.44 inches. Even though this is another year of below normal rainfall, we are still about 8.19 inches ahead of last year’s pace.
