Sunday’s high temperature in Chattanooga was 98 degrees which tied June 21st for the hottest day this month. You want some relief? Well, we are about to receive some!
A cool front will pass through the Tennessee Valley through the early morning hours of Monday. Our dewpoints will drop off signifying a drop in humidity. A refreshing breeze from the northwest will be felt throughout the day Monday. With full sunshine, afternoon temps will still bake around 91 degrees. But, it will not feel as oppressive as the humidity will be at a much lower level than what we had over the weekend.
The dry air will also allow nighttime temps to really drop off. Low temperatures by Tuesday morning should be in the lower 60s in the city. In fact, to the north and at higher elevations temps could be in the 50s. These comfortable mornings should continue for much of the week. This should allow us to give our A/C’s a break and open the windows at night.
The down side to the lower humidity is of course the absence of any chance for rain. We have about a 4 inch rainfall deficit for the year. I just do not see much of a chance of rain all week, except for Friday when a few afternoon pop ups are possible.
