Just as we returned to “normal” for rainfall…..Just was we were able to shed the effects of the 2007 drought…Along came June.
For hot weather lovers, you probably enjoyed June as 18 of the 30 days had temperatures 90 or above. 98 was the hottest on both the 21st & 28th. But, for those of us not wanting to see another drought, June was not what we wanted.
We entered June with a rainfall deficit of just over an inch. We ended the month with the deficit soaring over 4 inches. We only received 0.73″ of rain for the entire month. The driest ever June was in 1944 when only 0.29″ was received. We are not at the brink of drought again just yet, but we have to hope for a pattern change as we head into July & August.
I mentioned the hot temperatures above. The average temperature for the month was 79.7 degrees which was 4.3 degrees above normal.
